Davey grumbled as the barrage hit the rock above them and said, "It sounds like you are about to give up."

Davey felt something sharp on his side.
"You might want to stop talking." Serpire hissed quitely.

Davey's eyes widened and he fell silent.

Serpire stared into Davey's eyes for a few seconds then moved his dagger off him. He ran a finger down it's edge.
"Altogether."

"How...?" Davey growled and took his hand to hit a nerve in Serpire's arm to make him drop the dagger.

Serpine snarled and elbowed Davey just below his neck.
"You will be wise to remember exactly who I am."

Davey coughed and gasped, holding his neck. "Thief, never take my dagger!"

"I didn't. I just used mine." Serpire said, puzzled. "Anyway, I believe we need to put our deferences behind us. For our world."

The two Choppers flew around them and then started firing, behind them now. The pellets soared towards the two.

Davey dove to the right, heavily rammed the rock holding that side up, and watched it tumble down to close the opening, so they were completely enclosed. He looked at Serpire. "We are trapped in here, for the time being, but at least we are protected from the onslaught. I have a plan."

"Oh goody." Serpire said. "So what is it?"

"I think this rock is pretty thick. We'll be safe from bombs." Davey looked around, then pointed to a pit by where the rock holding up the larger one was before. "See there? we dig and keep rocks over us so we can find better shelter even while taking heavy fire."

"What about air?" Serpire asked quietly.

"These are imperfect rocks." Davey pointed to the spaces between the rocks that lead out. "We can breathe."

Serpire's shoulders slumped and he fell onto his knees, stayed like that for a moment, then fell on his side, struggling to breath properly.

"SERPIRE!" Davey knelt and shook him with his good arm. "What is it???"

Davey cursed loudly, and felt for where Serpire was shot. "It's dark, where?"

"A very bad place." He said after some time.

Davey felt and finally found warm and wet on Serpire's neck and cursed again. "Oh no... no no no... this may work but it will be painful..." He took Serpire's hand in reassurance and gingerly dug into Serpire's neck.
