Solitude - I Empty
PostSubject: Solitude - I   Solitude - I EmptySun Oct 31, 2010 7:18 am

After the days of the great darkness, the city of light had been constructed.
It's great glass spires, smooth metal supports.
It would have seemed as if great crystals grew up from the ground, with an occasional dragon flying by.
But the darkness is returning again...
And only a few can stop it...

She gazed into the shining mirror, cocking beak from side to side and trying to determine which angle looked best. A comb lay beside her in the sink, a few white feathers between the teeth.
Finally, Duireene turned around, not missing a last look at herself.
She slipped her feet into sandals fitting the three bird-like claws perfectly. "Enough", she murmered to noone in particular.

As she left the house, warm light greeted her.

-Capital Spire, Light City-

Ambassador Zarh drummed his claws on the desk.
He was waiting for someone to arrive.

Solitude - I Empty
PostSubject: Re: Solitude - I   Solitude - I EmptySun Oct 31, 2010 7:59 am

The streets were made of a hard, transparent plastic. It was water-deterrent, easy to clean and, as every visitor visitor to the city said, was beautiful. You could see through to the streets below yourself, and the ones below that. On days like this, when many people were on the street, the city looked as if its citizens were floating through thin air.
Duireene noticed none of this. If you lived in the Golden City since your birth, you grew used to its charm. It did not loose its beauty, but you were not drawn to it every moment you spent in it.
The people on the streets consisted mainly of people going to work, in suits or without. Sleepy faced, frustrated expressions.
A beggar was the only thing to diminish the scene's idyllic splendour. He was kneeling at the side of the street, looking sadly at his surroundings. A torn and dirty paper plate lay before him, a few coppers lying on it, looking as lost as the man himself. Hardly anyone took any notice. Poverty was not common here, and this had not done much good for the citizen's compassion. Duireene did not waste any glance at the man as she passed, looking away as all the rest did.
A glance at her watch reassured her. She was in good time.

Zarh coiled his long body under him, letting his claws rest on the table.
He hadn't been told who he was meeting, but it was 'important'.

Solitude - I Empty
PostSubject: Re: Solitude - I   Solitude - I EmptySun Oct 31, 2010 8:09 am

The building was tall. Many windows had been built into the white, clean surfaces. Behind them, numerous rooms could be seen, all similar. A desk, a greyish-blue carpet, a screen and long rows of shelves filled with folders. A child could tell that this was a sterile and boring place. Only work was tolerated.
Duireene brushed through the feathers on her head one last time, straightening them nervously. Then she approached the doors.
They opened before her as she entered the building. A few tabled stood in front of a reception desk. A water machine stood on a table, next to some paper beakers. The carpet felt soft under her sandals as she approached the receptionist, smiling.
"Good morning, miss, what can I do for you?" The empty but friendly voice everyone knows too well.
"Good morning." A short pause while she collected her words. "I have an appointment with Mr. Selurc."

The Ambassador shifted.
What was taking this person so long?
Suddenly, the door opened.

"Certainly." The young man turned in his chair and checked the screen next to him. "Ah, yes. Miss Nevoric, is it?"
"Yes."
"Wait a minute", he said, picking up the telephone lying next to him. "Excuse me?"
Duireene could not here any reply, but after a few seconds the receptionist put the phone down again. "Mr. Selurc will be with us in a moment."
That went well, she thought.
As the man had said, Mr. Selurc entered the room after a few seconds. His eyes searched the room. "Ah. Duireene Nevoric?"
"Yes", she replied.
"Good. Come with me."

Zarh looked at the person before him.
It looked a bit like a cheetah, only standing upright.
Before he could continue his thought, she was talking.
"Good day, Ambassador Zarh."

OOC: To all players - please title your post with the name of the character written about. This will make reading easier.
I will add this to the rules in a moment.

IC:

Selurc lead lead her to an elevator and pressed a button. The metal doors painted in a light, creamy colour slid open. The two entered.
"I hope the time was convient for you?", Duireene asked, desperate to keep up some conversation.
"Oh yes, thank you. I have more appointments later today, so it is good you could come today."
The elevator began to rise. "I have brought the information you need", she said, searching for the data chip she had brought along. "Here", she said and handed it to the man. Without a word, he pocketed it. She noticed that his expression seemed impatient, almost cross.
The doors opened, revealing that they were on one of the higher stories of the building. Selurc lead her to a door next to the lift.
A bronze plate was nailed to the wall beside it.

M. Selurc.

The cat-like female was called Sarpha.
A detailed explanation was given about dark forces being sighted.
"We must warn the other cities." She finished, her tail twitching.

OOC: Your dark forces - please no stereotyped baddies, OK?

IC:

"Come in."
He unlocked the door and pulled it open. The room looked exactly like the others she had seen from outside. Through the pane of glass, one had a good view over the silver spires and transparent floors of the City of Light.
The lawyer sat down at the chair in front of his desk and took the chip out of his pocket.
"Now, Miss Nevoric. Tell me, why exactly are you here?"
She cleared her throat.

OOC: Pointless cliffhangers for ever.

Talyan watched a nearby city.
"I would of thought there would of been some patrols" He hissed, "I guess I cannot complain though" He turned and walked away from the city, and checked to make sure his weapon was still working.

-Ambassador's office-

Sarpha stayed no longer than she had to.
Soon she was on the elevator back to one of the walkways that many cities had; plastic connecting many crystal-like structures, with a great power orb in the center of a larger, circular, part of the walkways.

"So... this... is the target...?" He asked himself.
He walked backwards slightly.

"As I said in my letter", she began, "the family I mentioned, the Stornwells, have published false documents that showed that they had rights to a part of the city belonging to my family for decades, oh, centuries."
The man inserted the chip into the computer and pressed a button on the bottom of the screen. While it lit up and he entered his password, Duireene continued.
"They went to court to claim their", she paused - "property", Duireene said, voice dripping with scorn and comtempt.
The lawyer turned to her. "And these are the documents?", he asked, pointing to the screen.
"Yes."
"Why do you think they are not real?" He sounded doubtful.
"I and my family have lived here for a long time", she said, trying to keep her voice calm. "And we have the deeds of ownership."
"Well."
The telephone on the desk rang.
He paused, as the speaker introduced myself and then said something in a low voice.
Then Duireene heard him reply, but she was not interested. She wanted to continue. "Yes. Thank you."
"You might be interested in the fact that Mr. Stornwell was here yesterday."
"And?"
"Well. He told me that the deeds are not real."
Triumph lit up on Dirueen's face. "But then we have already won at court!"
He raised his eyebrows. "Sorry. No."
A knock at the door.
"Come."

PostSubject: -Deep Underground-   Solitude - I EmptyWed Nov 03, 2010 12:24 pm

A group of 5 people, each with there own dark backgrounds. No one knew anyone's real name. Everyone knew no ones past. "We are gathered here to today" Said one particularly evil individual, in a strange reptilian tongue that was unfamiliar with the normal law abiding citizens of this planet. He continued "To construct the unlimited plan that will forever stain this planets perfect past. But before that our... contractors need a few deeds to be done. Each person's target is safely sealed in an envelope underneath their seat. Fail to kill the individual, and you yourself may find death at its door"

OOC: I would much enjoy doing so.

A man who calls himself Scaravandar dully trotted up the steps out of the hideout. His fate was inmate. He prepared to write his will, not that he had much to give away.

-5 Minutes Earlier-

Exited, worried an anxious Scar opened up his envelope with one tender talon, wondering who his target could possibly be. He felt his heart lurch. The piece of paper read:

Supreme Monarch Ystard

Scaravandar paid the man his money, instead of killing him (which was what he originally planned). That man could be useful in the future. Pretty happy about the job he'd done, the man walked down the street and out of site, oblivious to the chaos he was about to cause. Scaravandar was in the wrong part of sunlight city, he needed to be 12 miles north of his current location, and he was out of travel tickets. Feeling desperate, he hailed an unlicensed taxi. The lift was quick and fast flowing, people quickly came to realize not to mess with Scaravandar. He got out of the taxi, surprised at the huge amount of people that stood before him. He was not a terrorist, he did not want these people die, but the plan had to go ahead.

A few steps took him towards a religious temple of sorts, one less frequently visited by the monarch. Because of his preaching, the lower levels were virtually empty. Scaravandar quickly unpacked the highly explosive gel from the case given to him by a man, and quickly spread it around the temple. With one final sigh Scar lit the fuse, and quickly hurried out of the building.

The door was opened quickly and loudly. Three men strode in.
The lawyer nodded. "Take her."
Duireene jumped to her feet, suspecting that the events were going to take a turn to the bad.
Her arms were grabbed, roughly, a few white feathers drifting slowly to the ground.
With a curse, she turned to her captor. "What is this madness?"
"Be quiet, Duireene. You won't get away anyway. And now act normally when we're out or you won't live to see another day."

When they left the room and turned to the lift again, Duireene was released from the rough grasp of the men.
The doors slid open with the same quiet click as they had five minutes ago. Only this time, everything was so different.
Five people were to many for the lift. It was hopelessly crowded.
"Floor One", the lawyer pointed out, and the bulky man pressed the button with a thick and fleshy finger.
As the elevator fell downwards rapidly, it did no good to the uneasy feeling in Duireene's stomach.

The corridor on Floor One looked exactly like the other ones in the whole building.
They took another staircase and when they reached the ground floor, they did not stand in the main hall.
After the five had left through the back door, Duireene's heart pounding loudly and quickly with fear, she was forced into a car.
