Time of Darkness

"Arcan... would I be alive if you hadn't...? Inless you are using me... no... I doubt it..." Naralda muttered.

Arcan let his gaze fall.
"Do you know what my name means?"

"I would of thought something to do with Arcane, but no" Naralda replied.

Arcan did one of those half-nod half-shakes of his head before confirming;
"No, no. Not really."
He let his tougne flick against his teeth.
"We don't know what it means. To us, it just means a 'mystery'. To our best translation of the old language."

"Ah, what is the 'old language exactly? I have heard of Adunaban and Palaan, the languages of the Adunaban Empire and the Palaar Alliance" Nara said.

"I don't have the foggiest idea." Arcan said.
He siged.
"I... feel more of a need to tell you about me and my... past..." He bit his lower lip.

"... If you do, tell me now please... I need time to reflect on my own past, I tend to forget things..." Naralda said.

Arcan cleared his throat.
"Okay..."

-Parents died.
-Narsara saved Larhan and Arcan.
-Arcan leaves Larhan with Goliath.
-Narsara trains Arcan at the Mathica fortress.
-Time passes - includes killing of the ones who killed his parents.

-Attack on the city-

"That day was worse. It was like... like I lost a concience or something that... just, got in the way.
"I don't remember it so well. Something happened, something bad. I couldn't control them so thay attacked. And... I didn't seem to care. I just watched them die. so many of them. And I didn't think twice..."

-Viahl-

"I don't know if you even want to know how that happened... do you?"
Arcan shifted, averting his eye.

Naralda listen intently to his story.
"Eh, no..."

Arcan looked slightly releaved.
"Well, after that, something happened to... irritate me. Cut a long story short, I... sort of... kind of tried to use him for a little idea I had... Thankfully Narsara had other ideas..." He sighed.
"I'm quite sure I would have died a few days early if the Rohat had'nt flattened out gate then."

"The Rohat flattened the gate?" Nara asked Curiously.
"What was the Rohat anyway?"

Arcan laughed, as if she'd asked something like; "what is a fish, then?"
"It was the very large dead stone golem you may have seen on your... hike into my fortress."

"Errr... I only saw the dead bodies of undead and crusaders" Naralda said.

Arcan thought for a moment.
It looked more like a pile of pebles by the time you got there... but anyway... was there anything specific you want to know?"

"Yes, when did you find out I was with the Crusaders attacking the fortress?" Nara asked.

Arcan thought for a moment.
"About half an hour before you..." He shrugged.

"Oh... I see..." Naralda said.
"Hmmm, that would make sense for me too do... Yes, that might be why I cannot remember these things"

Arcan sighed.
"Do you know... anything, at all, about why I'm still alive? Who 'saved' me?"

" ... No... " Naralda said.
" Actually, I have wondered why you are still alive... but... "

Arcan nodded.
"Then tell me, Nara... why are you really here?"

"I..." She began, before coughing quite badly.
"... Erhn... Ta Lavan Yarl" Naralda said in Adunar.

"I only speak this and Argonian, Nara." Arcan said.
He glanced at his feet, and dug his rear talon into the ground.

"I know that, and only two people on Hal know this ancient language, it is better it stays that way" Naralda said.

Arcan stretched his neck.
"Weather Narsara has realized I know she is watching me or not remains unknown for me. Mind asking her?" He asked cooly.

"How would I go about doing that?" Naralda asked.
"Nar, Tayll tee thaee nar tee vay" She chanted.

Narsara growled something.
Arcan looked at her.
"Untrue." He said.
"Very true."
"Not so,"
"You lie."
"Again, your view is very flawed." Arcan added, frowning.
Narsara eyed Nara.
"Hello."
